Protection & Loving Kindness: A collective space for reflection, meditation and quiet resistance

  • Pine & Prism Wellness Collective 856 Northwest Bond Street Bend, OR, 97701 United States (map)

When the world feels heavy with grief, we look at our loved ones and ask one another, "What can I do?" Often we feel at odds, not knowing how to help, feeling small or isolated in our sadness. This is the exact question Kati from Three Deer Tarot and I asked each other on Sunday morning after a deep hug.

This Thursday evening, we gather as a small and supportive group in meditation.

We’re coming together to tend our inner landscapes so we can turn outward together , not as a form of self-care, but as an act of presence, solidarity, and resistance.

Meditation is a powerful tool to have in our pocket, as it has been shown to lower stress levels while creating a more clear-headed perspective from which to navigate. Meditation is reflection at its core. Whether we are holding an intention, repeating a silent affirmation, placing focus on the inhale and exhale of our breath, engaging in a body scan or personal energy work, these are all valid and there is no “wrong” way to practice.

While meditation itself is not the direct solution, it can provide a steady base from which to build, creating a more clear-headed perspective from which to navigate what's needed in moving forward. This is not escapism, but rather a place to center and re-ground.

This isn’t about fixing or soothing away what’s happening. It is a place to feel strong, yet rejuvenated.

No meditation experience is required, only a desire to connect back with oneself, clear your head and welcome in a peaceful heart. If you’re an energy practitioner, work in a helping/healing capacity, pray or would just like to join with others gathering in an intentional way, this invitation is for you.

We begin by welcoming you into the space and guiding you into a 20 minute silent meditation practice that allows you to come back to yourself. After 20 minutes, with gentle supportive meditative music to balance us in the background, we invite you into the practice of metta meditation, also known as loving kindness meditation, intended to bring compassion, warmth, and goodwill toward oneself and others. Here we will guide you to take the loving and hopeful energy you have created and send it out as an act of protection and love to Minneapolis, Minnesota and anyone affected by the acts brought about by this administration.

After our metta meditation, we will close our sacred space and you are welcome to linger, have a tea and chat with one another or if it feels most supportive, please know that saying goodbye without announcement is also welcome and can be just as supportive to your nervous system.

All are welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

While Pine & Prism has some bolsters and blankets, feel free to bring something comfortable to sit on for 30ish minutes.

Please RSVP as space is limited.
