Hosted at Pine & Prism and facilitated by Beth of River of Joy Yoga.
Being a teenager comes with a lot. School, friendships, expectations, comparison, big emotions and the ongoing work of figuring out who you are and how you want to move through the world.
This 8-week Yoga + Mindfulness Program offers teens in grades 8–12 a welcoming space to slow down, move, breathe and build practical tools for meeting some of that with a little more awareness and self-compassion.
Led by Beth of River of Joy Yoga, each week we’ll explore a different theme, including mindfulness, thoughts and emotions, social comparison, gratitude, self-compassion and navigating stress. Through a mix of movement, mindfulness and reflection, teens will have opportunities to notice what’s happening in their bodies and minds and experiment with tools they can carry into everyday life.
There’s nothing to be good at here. No previous yoga or mindfulness experience is needed, and teens are invited to participate in the ways that feel comfortable and useful to them.
Beth holds a master’s degree in Social-Emotional Learning, Mindfulness and Yoga and originally developed this program as part of her graduate research. After offering it with a group of eighth graders last spring, she’s bringing an expanded version to Pine & Prism this fall for students in grades 8–12.
